For_Immediate_Release: October 24, 2009/ -- Blair Lauren Brown launches this month with collections of handcrafted, raw gold, and green gold in fine & couture jewelry. With the combined Karat of each piece averaging 20-22, all pieces are one of a kind. Blair Lauren Brown offers a forgotten angle to the market of high end retail and goods: Luxury. The collections align themselves with an interest that shall be more highly regarded - applying a consciousness for the consumers' interests in quality, over cost and quantity. High design and luxury include a personal touch: relationships between consumer and designer, custom fittings, and handcrafted work. Blair Lauren Brown offers all of that with an additional alignment with the preservation of our habitat. The collections utilize raw gold and green gold - making the pieces all one of a kind - and produced in limited edition series preserving unique style and continual development. Raw gold is the term used to describe gold nuggets acquired from placer mining. Placer mining draws gold from bodies of water in their natural state without drilling or the use of TNT, a traditional mining technique. Thus, the environmental impact is lessened, and the form of the gold nugget is natural and unaltered by the hand of man. Green gold defines the use of recycled gold in the mounting and findings used in the collection. This also lessens the need to mine new gold - again, preserving our habitat. Blair Lauren Brown is also looking to align with 1% for the planet, a foundation which accepts 1% of sales from involved companies to invest back into the preservation of our planet. The Alaskan gold rush of 1898 inspired James Victor Brown Senior to open J. Vic Brown and Sons. The store made certain to preserve the authenticity and purity of the gold they sold, using raw and untouched nuggets to honor the raw and untouched Alaskan land from which they were taken. In doing so, J. Vic Brown and Sons played an integral role in defining what is now considered a uniquely Alaskan style of jewelry. James Victor Brown's son, James “Bud” Victor Brown Junior, followed in his father's footsteps, opening an even larger J. Vic Brown and Sons store in downtown Anchorage. By insisting on the fine quality of design, manufacturing, and retail of the gold nugget jewelry he sold, Bud elevated J. Vic Brown and Sons into a thriving business, which he later sold to jewelry distributor Zale's in the 1960’s. For the rest of his career, James Victor Brown Junior maintained a hand in the manufacturing of gold nugget jewelry for numerous distributors, one of which was later managed by his only son, James “J.V.” Victor Brown III. In a century of Alaskan gold nugget jewelry, the Brown family has built a timeless style and an admirable history. A representative of the new generation, Blair Lauren Brown, the woman and the collection, is proud to introduce this latest addition to her family’s admirable history. About the Gold Nuggets - Due to the nature of gold nuggets – each being unique and having its own character – no two pieces of jewelry are alike - Gold nuggets are considered gemstones due to their rarity – large gold nuggets (the size of a robins’ egg) are more rare than a 5-k diamond - Less than 2% of the worlds gold is in gold nugget form, the other 98% comes in gold dust and has to be refined to be utilized – the refined gold used in the collection is reclaimed – and definably green - All pieces are hand-crafted in our Alaskan studios using high karat gold – all nuggets are between 92% to 99.6% pure gold (22-24k) About the Designer Like so many Browns before her, Blair Lauren was born with a creative nature. Growing up, she trained at the same studios once owned by her father, honing her talent under the watchful eye of her grandfather's right-hand production artist. In 2004, armed with a BFA in sculpture from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Blair Lauren launched her first line, Sagacious, a collection of redesigned vintage jewelry. Hesitant to put her cart before her horse, Blair made Sagacious available only at select showcases; but four years of consumer enthusiasm and interest in Sagacious inspired Blair to create a new, larger collection of handmade gold nugget jewelry, available to the entire luxury market. This collection is Blair Lauren Brown. --- For press and sales inquiries please contact blb@blairlaurenbrown.com or call (347)238-5532. # # # Press Release Keywords: Bebe Collection 09/30/2009
